What are some good attractions in Los Angeles?

Me and my family are going to california in 2 weeks. So far we have Universal Studios and Madame Tussuad's Hollywood. Do you guys have any other ideas preferably cheaper ones but I'll take all of ideas into consideration. Could you guys also tell me any stories or experiences you may have have about California. And I'm going on plane for the first time so any stories about that and tips to calm my nerves because i"m terrified.
