Did Madame Ratignolle lost her baby in The Awakening?

My teacher mentioned something about her losing the child but when I went back and looked I could find no sign of it mentioning that the baby didn't survive. But it also didn't mention anything about the baby surviving either. Is this another example of Chopin's ambiguity?
