In Les Miserables, what religon would you say the Thenardiers are?

They would have been baptised as Catholics, but clearly live their lives as atheists - the line you quote is quite explicit. In their age people didn't say they were atheist, and in their various cons, just as today, saying you follow religious doctrine is a good way to make stupid people believe and trust you.
